The All New Hyundai Elantra 2012

Posted by Anonymous |

**This is not an advertorial post for Hyundai, just my personal reviews and opinion of this car.

Last week went to Citta Mall with few of my friends to try out the all new Hyundai Elantra 2012 and one of him booked one.

There were preview and test drive sessions opened to all public to know more and have a feel and touch of this car.

This car comes with 4 variants models to choose from. 3 were 1.6 and 1 higher spec of 1.8. The design of the new Elantra is very identical with the Hyundai Sonata, the curves and aerodynamic design helped the car coefficient drag of 0.28 only. It has 7 colours to choose from; Ceramic White, Sleek Silver, Hyper Silver, Tomato Red, Santorini Blue, Phantom Black and Clean Blue.

This is the 1st room we entered, a spokesperson explained the features of the car. There was a demonstration of aerodynamic of the car.

The next room displayed the 1.8 Elantra and all are allowed to seat have a closer view of the car and also seat inside.

The rear look so-sonata but with a fugly Inokom logo. If I'm buying this car, the first thing I will change is the logo, damn potong stim lol!

As mentioned earlier, it has 2 type of engine which are 1.6L Gamma (MPI) that produce 130 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and a 1.8L producing 150 horsepower at 6,500 rpm. The engine is paired with 6 speeders D-CVVT Shiftronic manual control.

As for interior all the 1.6L models comes with leather seats and the 1.8L come with nappy leather.

All the range get full keyless entry and a start/stop ignition button except 1.6L manual. Wish this is available in my Honda Insight.

Electric Power Steering, Head light with auto light control, fog lamp, 2 airbags, ABS, steering wheel audio control and all power windows are standard across all models. The 1.6 AT High Spec and 1.8 AT Premium come with ESP with Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Telescopic Steering Wheel and nicer meter gauge.

The different of RM20k make put some extra goodies on the 1.8 AT Premium with full auto climate control with dual zone, auto cruise, tilt & slide sun roof, rain sensor-wiper, touch screen head unit with GPS & reverse camera, 10-ways power adjustable driver's seat and 17-inch alloy wheels instead 16-inch on other variants.

After all the preview we are allowed to have a test drive of the car. 1.6L and 1.8L is up to test.

According to the flyer from Hyundai, the fuel efficiency for 1.6 MT get about 16.4km/l, the 1.6 AT get around 14.9km/l and the 1.8L AT with 14.1km/l.

Below are the price of the new Hyundai Elantra include road tax and insurance;
1.6L MT : RM 86,888
1.6L AT : RM 91,888
1.6L AT High Spec : RM 96,888
1.8L Premium : RM 111,888

Overall this car is not bad, sporty design, great aerodynamic, NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) is good but the price tag is a little high if you comparing to it closest competitors Kia Forte.

If you planning to get the 1.8L Premium I would suggest you to get the Hyundai Sonata instead, this is just IMHO.
