Nokia did it again. Since the XpressMusic 5800 launched with an affordable price for it features, seem that everyone also can own a XpressMusic 5800. It’s like Nokia XpressMusic 5800 fever!
Ok! Lately I have received a lot emails, comments and even a lot ppl added me in MSN asking me the installation of Garmin XT that recently released a version that supported touch screen IU for Symbian S60 that fit really well for Nokia XM5800.
Here I’m gonna guide you guys on the installation of this application.
First download on the needed files;
- Download Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60 3rd, current version 5.00.30 link
- Download Garmin Mobile XT Free Basemap and Garmin XT Support Files link
- Download GM-MySinMXT from malsingmaps link
(This is Malaysia and Singapore maps and you are required to register in order to download the map file)
Installation
- Connect your XM 5800 to the computer via USB and select Mass Storage or you also can remove your memory and connect it to your computer.
- Execute the files that you have downloaded in your computer, one after another;
1. Garmin Mobile XT Free Basemap
2. Garmin Mobile XT Support Files
3. Garmin Mobile XT V 5.00.30
- Disconnect your XM5800 or your memory from your computer. Go to your phone application and run your Garmin XT program.
(Note : If you unable to find the Garmin Application, search for GarminXT.sis file on the root of your memory card and install)
- For time been, you won’t be able to detect the in-built GPS unit of your XM5800 and it will search for Bluetooth GPS.
- Now you are required for ahemmm program. I won’t be able to provide you any link or program. You can try to google around.
- Next you go to Setting – System – About and jolt down the ID Card for the ahemmm code generator.
- Copy the generated code and paste it in a notepad and save the file as SW.UNL for software unit.
- Reconnect your XM5800 to computer and copy the SW.UNL file into \Garmin\ in your memory card.
- Then execute GM-MySinMXT.exe and select the directory to \Garmin\ in your memory card.
- Disconnect your XM5800 go to application and run Garmin XT. Next go to Setting > System > Remote GPS alter it to “Use Attached/Built-in GPS” and enable.
- Wa lah! You are ready to navigate with Garmin XT with voice navigation.
Now you can change your boring navigation arrow to some cool vehicle icons from here link
- Just download and create a folder name Vehicle in \Garmin\ in your memory card and paste it in.
That's all folk! Enjoy your sweet new Navigation program.

well i searched whole internet every where its same way to installation but, in n5800 its shows imei,imsi and card id all 10 digits i generated key copied it to sw.unl but it does not detect inbuilt gps pls help. also when i start garminit asks for free trail version,purchase, enter product key and connect to garmin gps how can i bypass this option.

1. when i click where to? set home location or address? it says you need detailed map am using detail map of india its written at right bottem correner wheni goto maps?
2. after switching my phone off, it does not start only after i remove my MMC it starts then i insert mmc back it works fine, this started after i installed GARMIN, am using v.5.00.3
Is this the same procedure for Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60 3rd Edition software version 5.00.40?

How do I go about this problem. Right after I finished excuting the files onto my Nokia 5800 and then discconected it. I went to app and started garmin. However, I am stuck at where it shows, "select text language" and under it is "Enlgish" and arrow and under it is "next." I tried tapping each option, but it does nothing. Pls help! hi i am having a problem with my nokia 5800 phone i install garmin mobile xt to my phone but i have to swap cards as the garmin has a 512mb card and my 8gb has all my music on it i cant copy the data across to the 8gb card and garmin say the copy protection is why how can i get round this does any one know email me if you can help paulbrogden2007@googlemail.com

Hi, I just have a simple and maybe a stupid question. "Does it cost any charges when you use Garmin or the same GPS applications? I am using DIGI simcard in Malaysia and it seems everytime I use Garmin, my credit level goes down.
Ok, I overwritted garmin 5.00.3 to 5.00.4, but the issue is the same. Could it be that my Nokia 5800 is the NAM or US version?
Hi Son, I thik you are right, the Garmin XT doesn't work with US version yet, I called Garmin and they said it won't work with 5800 at all. So.. I guess I will sell it on ebay..
Son - If you still failed to install the Garmin please try to redo the installation again. Uninstall the garmin application and delete the garmin folder in ur memory card.
Last resort you can do is hard reset of your XM5800.
Anonynmous - There's no different between NAM or US XM5800 and it should work fine. Garmin replied you like that because the Garmin XT they have was S60 3rd and wasn't the S60 5th that specifically for XM5800 but then it should work fine.
I've formatted my 5800 many times, also the memory card, still no luck. I think the US version does have some hardware difference than the Euro or asia version.

Manish - If the US unit has this problem, I believe you can try change the product code to different region and update the firmware. I believe that's the best solution.

GM-MySinMXT is this the maps file. will i have to download my country's map and use that?
Different country may have different maps. The GM-MySinMXT is meant for Malaysia and Singapore maps. Google around to search the maps suit ur country.

Hello Joshua, your installation guide was a great help to me.
Though i'm a bit stuck right now.

Kim - I'm not so sure what type of maps file you have downloaded. Garmin XT are reading .img file. As long it able to create on .img file it should works fine and paste it on the root of the Garmin folder.
